What Gradial reads, and where it goes.

Gradial keeps your data on your phone. There is no account, no server, and no analytics: the app contains no networking code at all.

What Gradial reads from Health

Only to build and score your plan, and only on this device:

Running workouts: distance, duration, date, and energy burned.
Workout routes: the GPS trace recorded with a run.
Heart rate during runs, and your resting heart rate.
Cardio fitness (VO₂max), which every race prediction is built from.
Steps and walking or running distance.
Running power, ground contact time, vertical oscillation and stride length, where your watch records them.
Date of birth and biological sex, from Health's own profile, used only to place your VO₂max against the published norms for people of the same age and sex. Nothing is shown if Health does not hold them.

What Gradial writes to Health

Planned running workouts, so your Apple Watch can show the session and its steps. Nothing else is ever written.

Location

Route data is read from the workouts Health already holds, to draw the map of a run and measure its distance. Gradial does not track your location itself, does not run in the background, and never sends a coordinate anywhere. Earlier versions looked up a place name from the start of each run, and that lookup has been removed for exactly this reason.

Where it is kept

Plans, and the links between runs and sessions, live in a single file in the app's own storage, plus a small copy shared with the widget. Health data is not copied out of Health; it is read when a screen needs it. Deleting Gradial deletes all of it.

What is never collected

No account, email address or name.
No advertising or tracking identifiers.
No analytics, crash reporting or telemetry.
Nothing shared with anyone, because nothing leaves the device.

Your control

Health access can be withdrawn at any time in Settings, Privacy & Security, Health, Gradial. The app keeps working; the parts that need your runs stop filling in, and say so.

Children

Gradial is rated 4+ and collects nothing from anyone, of any age, because it collects nothing at all.

Changes to this policy

If the app ever starts doing something this page does not describe, this page changes first and the date above changes with it.
